Not all children and households are the same. My grade 9 son THRIVED in the system. No, he did not get straight A's, which in a traditional school he may have achieved, but he had (a) chill time, low stress and no bad influences. Some days he would school for 2 hours, and I would be concerned, but then I simply went onto the guardian portal and saw that he was either on track or behind and handled the situation accordingly. I don't agree with everything that happened in terms of grading and the tech was not always sound but my son's support coach was AMAZING in assisting us to get answers and support where needed. We always got answers and input. My son grew up, got into a 'self help' mindset and learned to be independent. He even made some good friends. We had 2 meet and greet events where the kids got to know each other and those who got along continued a virtual friendship... that's today's life... Anyway, I don't take away from those students and guardians that put in a lot of effort and did not have a good experience. This type of schooling is NOT for everyone.
