At UCT Online High School we want to do everything we can to ensure your child succeeds in an online learning environment. That’s why we’ve developed our online rewards platform.
A gamified approach to learning
We’ve incentivised learning by incorporating gamification into our learning approach. This innovative approach means that our platform offers rewards for learners to complete their work and achieve their best.
“Our Rewards programme is meticulously crafted to infuse elements of game design into the educational journey, making learning more engaging and motivating for learners. By integrating this programme, we aim to transform routine academic tasks into exciting challenges that inspire learners to achieve their best,” explains Grant Ruskovich, Chief Partnerships Officer at Valenture Institute.
Your child will earn tokens for completing module paths, submitting formal assessments promptly, and attending live sessions. They can then use those tokens to claim rewards from our online store. The programme is so popular with UCT OHS learners that rewards typically sell out within just a few hours of going live on the store.
Our rewards for 2024
This year, we’re excited to say that our amazing partners have offered rewards exceeding R 4 million.
Our rewards are grouped into three categories:
- Experiential rewards. These rewards include things like experiences like interacting with industry leaders or participating in exciting events and physical activities. Our online store offers experiential rewards from Angus Lowe Experiences, Bounce Inc., JEFF Fitness, Planet Fitness, rAge Expo and Total Ninja.
- Monetary rewards. These rewards include things like redeemable vouchers, event discounts, online store purchases, and “buy one, get one free” specials. A Class Tutors, Advantage Learn, AWS Skills, Exclusive Books, FundiMatch, Reflective Learning, Spaza Eats, OneDayOnly and Webtickets have contributed monetary rewards for 2024.
- Merchandise/equipment rewards. These rewards include physical items like clothing, branded merchandise, tech hardware etc.
